Status – EXERCISE DE-ACTIVATED

We will be activated from 0800 – 1200 ET on May 5, 2026 for testing with localities participating in VOPEX.

Exercise ICS-205

While there has been some coordination for the exercise between localities, the final frequency list for the May 5th Dress Rehearsal is:

HF Data – Preferred Contact Method

  • Winlink RMS (NOT P2P) – N4VEM

HF Voice

  • 7240 kHz

FM Voice

We will be listening on the following repeater. If there are other repeaters you want to test on, please contact us on this machine, via telephone during the event, or email prior to the event and we’ll try to plan/switch over as best we can. This will allow us to coordinate and track which additional repeaters we can hit for better future planning.

  • W4RAT – Richmond – 442.550(+) 74.4 (FM, not system fusion)

Telephone

  • 804.371.4146

If you are an emergency communications organization that needs ham radio contact with VDEM, please coordinate the request with you locality’s emergency management.

REMINDER

During actual emergencies, N4VEM only checks in to nets already in place or maintains watch on specific frequencies. We do not coordinate or run our own nets, nor do we force a particular operational plan on others. If there is no net on a repeater, we may announce our presence but we will not call or check-ins or start a net of our own.

Below is an UNOFFICIAL list of frequencies that we might use during an activation. While activated, we will link to our official, event-specific 205 on this page.

Winlink

Due to traffic volume, Winlink is by far our preferred method of communication! This mailbox is only monitored from computers inside the VEOC radio room, and so will only be checked during activations and drills. If you send us a message on Winlink outside of those times, you will receive a response once someone goes in to the VEOC.

Our address is N4VEM@winlink.org.

We do not support P2P message handling during emergencies.

HF Voice

  • 7240 kHz LSB
  • 3947 kHz LSB

These are example repeaters we may use. During an activation, we will coordinate a specific set based on communication needs.

  • W4KGC – King George – 146.745(-) 107.2
